I would first like to apologize for the many many people that I forgot to add to my weekly update. In fact, if you have any ideas of people who want to be on this list, could you please send it to me?
So here it goes... First of all, the MTC is awesome. The spirit here is strong and I'm so happy to be here. Cantonese is coming along great and I can tell that the spirit is helping me learn the language. I am district leader and am so happy to have that assignment. I get to lead district meetings and share devotionals and bring my district together! It is awesome!
The days are truly long here at the MTC, but they're awesome. Sunday was so spiritual and I was so happy, and the tuesday devotional was powerful. Elder Nielson from the seventy and his wife. Both their talks were awesome and I am so happy to be here.
Here's a funny story. So my companion and I are walking and he says...
"Elder... my chest is burning..."
"Elder Parker! You must be feeling a burning in the bosom, that's the spirit dude!"
"No, I mean I have heartburn..."
It was really funny. I've been able to teach many investigators since I've been here, I even taught four lessons in Chinese! The first lessons were all a lot of preparing and reading a script because I don't speak Cantonese, but on the last lesson, my companion forgot his script and so did I so we kinda just had to wing it. That's when I realized that I do speak Chinese. Isn't it amazing how fast that happens? I was able to have a full Chinese conversation and lesson for about 20 minutes without any cantonese written down! Hopefully that sticks and when I'm in Hong Kong I won't be totally lost.
All of the MTC mission presidency served their missions in Brazil. In fact, they all even served in the same town without realizing it. So cool!
My companion's name is Elder Parker. He is so cool. His testimony is just awesome. He is a convert to the church and was only converted about a year ago. Now he's on a mission and the amount of faith he has is amazing. He's got a rough family and history, but he's so happy to be able to turn that around with his testimony!
A mission is a busy and hard thing but I am so happy to be here.
I have bad news though, I cannot figure out how to get pictures on this computer so you won't see my companion yet, but I'm gonna get help so expect pictures later today! (He figured it out)
Love you guys!
Elder Hintze
